A home town hero was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery May 7th. 2015.
Retired Airman Timothy Dwane Morton, age 59, passed away May 28th, 2014 at Oviedo, Florida surrounded by his family when our Lord called this hero home.
Tim was the son of Geraldine R. Piatt and the late Duane L. Morton. He was born on January 21st, 1955. He was the oldest son and pride of his family.
Tim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Ann Mench Morton. Their children are Timothy David Morton of Oviedo, Florida and Jenifer Alene Morton (Christopher) Bunty of Greenville, South Carolina.
Tim was the brother of Norene E. (Elvin) Ewers, Woodsfield, Ohio. Jeffrey A. Morton, Elm Grove, West Virginia. Sally L. Parrino, Sun City, Arizona. Reginald J. Morton, Woodsfield, Ohio, and Deanna L. (Mark) Miller, Woodsfield, Ohio.
Tim was preceded in death by his father Duane Leroy Morton and step father Howard L. Piatt.
Tim was a retired Air Force Airman of the 6985th Airborne division. He served his country with pride. He enlisted in the Air force before he graduated from Woodsfield High School. After Tim’s retirement from the Air Force he was employed by our government through Raytheon, a national defense company located in Oviedo, Florida. Tim was a true Patriot and loved to tell stories of his adventures. Tim traveled the world and loved defending our freedom. He was loved and respected by everyone he met.
Tim was honored and laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, followed by a gathering of his family and friends. Tom Giroir, a very close friend and fellow Airman gave his eulogy. “A wisely and poignantly person taught me years ago that the person who has passed would not want us to be sad. No, instead they would want us to be happy for them! They would ask us to celebrate for them. They would ask us to celebrate all that they have contributed to the rest of us before their passing. I have no doubt, none, that, Tim would agree and he would probably be buying the first round to that! And, of course, Tim would remark. Tim would encourage us. Come on folks, let’s celebrate all the good times we had and shared! To Carol and family, as mournful as today is, let’s do just that! Let’s celebrate all the excitement and positive energy that Tim brought into our lives. “
