Recollections of great-grandaughter, Gretchen Valentine:
Gretchen knew Tena as "Grossmutter." She remembers her walking down the street in her bedroom slippers eating a raw cucumber. (14 May 1994) According to the recollections of Kathryn Tadsen Sharp, whenever her mother, Dora Tadsen, bought Grossmutter (Tena Lorenzen) a new dress, Tena would say, "that is the dress I'm going to be buried in." Of course she went through about 10 dresses because she lived to be ninety-two! Kathryn also said that Tena's three girls were so different from one another (in both physicaL appearance and personality), that you would never have known they were sisters. Of course, she did not know Rosie who died at (about) age 10.
