The idenification of this photo as James Tanner Denbow is tentative. It is based on the age of the photo, the fact that it was in my father's possession and identified as from his paternal side, and the close resemblance of the man in this photo with a much later photo of JTD in front of his house.

Biography

James Tanner Denbow was born on 15 January 1847 in Monroe, Ohio, USABGO+. He married Sarah Catherine Rose, daughter of Simon Adam Rose and Sarah E. Smith, on 12 February 1871 in Monroe, Ohio, USABGO+. James Tanner Denbow died on 6 October 1928 in Woodsfield, Monroe, Ohio, USA, at the age of 81.
James Tanner Denbow appeared on the census on 9 July 1860 in Summit Twp., Monroe, Ohio, USA.1 Built a big farm house on outskirts of Woodsfield on State Route 78. The house is on the left side of the road as you approach Woodsfield coming from Lewisville. His sons helped him build the house in the late 1890s.2 He appeared on the census in 1910.3
